Sebon: Freestyle Tracks Pt. 1 "It's Not Far From The Edge"

So, your all wondering if I'm ever going to come out with anything soon? Well, here you go.

So what is a Freestyle Track?
A Freestyle Track is a track that I write and mix in about an hour. They're freestyle because I make a loop in less than 5 minutes by looping 2 measures on my computer. Then I make the loop without stopping the 2 measures in those 5 minutes. After all of that, I use the last 30-45 minutes to make a song out of it. Also, each track will come with an obscure picture that I have taken from my camera in the past.

This first Freestyle Track is called "It's Not Far From The Edge". This track was completed in 45 minutes from scratch. I had no idea of how this track would turn out to be when I made the 2 measure loop. The only sample I used in this song was Bee Gee's "Stayin' Alive". With out anymore delay, here's my first Freestyle Track!

Track Made: 12/27/09

Studio Updates Part 2

On Sunday the 13th, Terri and I had the opportunity to officially start the recording process for our new album coming out next year. Or that’s what we hope.

We started recording vocals and a little bit of guitar for the song “Now I See.” This song is about a girl that was in love with a boy, but it was a mistake (of course lol). She regretted loving that boy and realized it was a waste of time. Then out of nowhere, she found someone better that will stay with her till the end. The lyrics are more meaningful than a lot of those stupid pop songs that you hear on the radio, because these songs come from the heart and we write what we want to.

Anyways, it was a really fun recording session. It went better than I expected. Usually, my computer slows down when vocals are recording. I don’t know why, but it does. I did find a way to have it not happen. So, all the vocals were recorded perfectly. That got me excited. We did about 30-40 takes for singing alone. We did these many takes to make sure we had it perfect. They were absolutely amazing. We just did a lot to make sure we had each pitch perfect, which they were.

For guitar, I used my Austin acoustic guitar to record the guitar parts in the intro in the song to get a feel of what I should do in the future. This week I’ll work on the guitar parts more and mix the vocals. Hopefully in a couple weeks we’ll have our first song completely done!
